About 100 people enjoyed a chance to sample a wide variety of savory and sweet offerings at the inaugural Taste of Bishops Corner on March 31, 2016. The event was sponsored by Simon Konover Company, Anytime Fitness, West Hartford Magazine and We-Ha.com, and took place at the well-appointed Mercy Community’s Saint Mary Home Auditorium on Steele Road.
Guests sampled Ancient Grains and Israeli salad from Blue Plate Kitchen; several varieties of pizza (including gluten-free) from Harry’s Bishops Corner; “designer” cookies galore from Crown Market; fries and “shake shots” from Mooyah; make-your-own brownie sundaes from Abby Dabby Ice Cream Treats; and a full bar of refreshments from Two Pour Guys.
“Our partners have been really fantastic,” Bishops Corner Neighborhood Association President Bob Fressola said.
With more 20 restaurants in Bishops Corner, the Bishops Corner Neighborhood Association expects more involvement at the next “Taste of” event.
Fressola also highlighted the many activities coming up this spring and summer in the Bishops Corner area, including the farmers’ market which will launch its third season on June 18 and will be held on Saturday mornings in the parking lot outside Crown Market. The arts group, which held its first open mike night recently and attracted 40-50 people, will have a second event on April 12.
Pianist Claire Nicholas of Avon, a student at Northwest Catholic High School, added even more flavor to the event with her lovely accompaniment. Complimentary chair massages courtesy of two licensed therapists from Massage Envy-West Hartford were also a popular attraction.
