A kitchen fire in a third-story apartment of The Camelot at 900 Farmington Avenue was quickly contained, but 12 residents have been displaced due to water and smoke damage, West Hartford Fire Department Deputy Chief Adam Pacheco said.
According to Pacheco, a structure fire was reported at approximately 7:52 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.
Crews arrived at the scene quickly and observed that alarms and sprinklers had been activated, and smoke was visible from the third floor of the four-story residential building, officials said.
The first company to arrive reported that the blaze, which had started in the kitchen of a third-floor unit, had already been successfully contained by the sprinkler system in The Camelot, which was completed just a year ago.

“Crews confirmed the fire had been extinguished and that there was no extension of fire to other areas of the building,” Pacheco said.
While fire damage was contained to the kitchen of the unit of origin, smoke and water damage to other units resulted in the displacement of 12 residents. All are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
There were no injuries reported to firefighters or civilians.
The West Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing to investigate to determine the cause of the blaze.
“The West Hartford Fire Dept. would like to thank the West Hartford Police Dept., American Medical Response, American Red Cross, and the West Hartford Building Dept.  for their assistance at this scene and their continued partnership serving the community,” Pacheco said.
