Two men in a stolen car were arrested after a brief foot chase Thursday morning and face multiple charges after failing to stop at the request of West Hartford Police, even after a tire deflation device was deployed.

West Hartford Police said a white Infiniti G37 that had been reported stolen from Hartford was spotted by officers Thursday morning at approximately 8:51 a.m., traveling south on New Park Avenue near Jefferson Avenue in West Hartford.

Officers intercepted the vehicle on Newington Road and signaled for the operator of the vehicle to stop but he failed to comply, and after another officer successfully deployed a tire deflation device on Newington Road near Sampson Street, the operator still continued to drive away without stopping.

According to police, the vehicle was not pursued and the operator continued south on Newington Road, out of West Hartford and into Newington.

The vehicle was abandoned and found by officers who were canvassing the area where it was last seen. It had come to a stop near the intersection of Willard Avenue and West Hill Road, just south of the West Hartford line in Newington, and the two occupants had fled on foot, police said.

Police said the two occupants were apprehended without incident after a brief foot chase and face multiple charges.

Carlos Deleon, 22, of Hartford, has been charged with interfering with an officer, second-degree larceny of  a motor vehicle (second offense), and second-degree larceny.

John Morales, 23, of Hartford, has also been charged with interfering with an officer, second-degree larceny of a motor vehicle (second offense), and second-degree larceny, as well as with engaging in pursuit.

Both suspects were being held on $250,000 surety bond pending arraignment at G.A. 14 in Hartford.

West Hartford Police said they appreciate the assistance of partner agencies with this investigation.
