West Hartford Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man in surveillance photos they provided and said they would like to question him in connection with an incident that occurred Wednesday evening just at approximately 9:21 p.m. at Sedgwick Middle School.

Police also provided a photo of the vehicle the man was driving as he left the scene, which they said appears to be a Lincoln MKZ, model year between 2006 and 2012, and would like more information about the vehicle as well.

According to police, after an open-gym basketball event for adults at Sedgwick Middle School on Monday, a disturbance broke out that turned into a physical fight. One individual involved in the altercation brandished what appeared to be a firearm, police said.

When the individual pulled out what appeared to be a gun, everyone scattered, according to police, and the suspect ran to the pictured vehicle. Surveillance footage shows him entering the vehicle and leaving Sedgwick at approximately 9:21 p.m.

Police are asking anyone who has information about the suspect’s identity, or who can identify the license plate of the vehicle, to contact Det. Dustin Ganci at 860-570-8892, or call the Detective Division at 860-570-8870.

Police said the suspect is wanted only for questioning at this time. They also urged caution, because a firearm has not been recovered.
