West Hartford Police said that a door and several windows were smashed and it appears that someone tried to break into a cash register at Cornerstone Aquatics Center Monday night.

Police said they were called to the town’s aquatics facility at 55 Buena Vista Rd. at 11:52 p.m. Monday after a maintenance worker discovered that someone had smashed the front door with a rock.

Police discovered that other windows had been smashed as well, and evidence indicated that a suspect or suspects had gained entry into the facility and attempted to pry open a register drawer.

The attempt to open the drawer was unsuccessful, police said, and it does not appear that anything was taken.
