A moving company employee who was checking on a mechanical problem with a truck was injured Thursday morning when the truck rolled forward into him, West Hartford Police said.

Daniel McKay, 46, of Windsor, an employee of Woodland Moving, located at 110 Reed Ave. in West Hartford, was in the cab of the truck just after 7:45 a.m. Thursday, attempting to diagnose the mechanical problem, police said.

According to police, McKay got out of the cab and walked around to the front of the truck. Police reported that the truck, which was either not in gear or slipped out of gear, rolled forward, struck McKay, and “knocked him aside.”

Police said that McKay sustained a laceration on his head and was treated at the scene and then transported to Hartford Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

According to police, another employee of the company was able to jump into the truck and stop it from rolling any further.

The truck was not damaged, police said.
