West Hartford Police Searching for Vehicle, Driver Involved in Hit and Run on Avon Mountain

One driver sustained injuries in a head-on collision on Albany Avenue and West Hartford Police said the other driver fled the scene.

A BMW headed westbound on Albany Avenue (Route 44) Tuesday morning at approximately 9 a.m. was hit head-on by the driver of an eastbound blue Acura sedan who then fled the scene of the crash, West Hartford Police Capt. Michael Perruccio said.
Police closed all westbound travel lanes for approximately 15 minutes to investigate, and said the Acura had crossed the double yellow lines in the collision with the BMW.
West Hartford Police said they are searching for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which occurred at Albany Avenue and Toll House Lane, which is located just west of Mountain Road.
Police did not release any further details about the suspect or the vehicle, other than that it is a blue Acura sedan which sustained moderate damage, and that it fled east on Albany Avenue.
The driver of the BMW was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash.
The BMW also sustained moderate damage, police said.
