The deadline to sign up for the next session of the College Police Academy is Dec. 6.
The West Hartford Police Department will be offering its 19th Bi-Annual College Police Academy from Jan. 6 through Jan. 17, 2020.
Hollywood and the media portray a law enforcement career as one of C.S.I., high-speed chases and bad guys confessing within an hour or two of an arrest. The objective of the Behind The Badge program is to address the misconceptions and show students what police officers really do.
The College Police Academy will consist of 10 classroom sessions that will cover practical skills, physical training, and firearm familiarization. In addition, a four-hour ride-a-long with a West Hartford Police Officer will be required to complete the course. The classroom sessions will be held Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., for two weeks at the West Hartford Police Department, 103 Raymond Rd.
