On Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, from 9-10:30am, the Bridge Family Center will host an information session at its Family Resource Center for those wishing to learn more about its acclaimed leadership programs: UCONN’s People Empowering People (PEP) and the Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI).

PEP is a 10-week program that uses curriculum from UCONN’s Cooperative Extension to explore values, communication, self-awareness, parenting, power, and advocacy. The program culminates in a group community-service project and a graduation.

PLTI is a 20-week program that uses a curriculum from the Connecticut Commission on Children to explain how parents can have an impact on the political system and become effective advocates for children. Participants complete a project they are passionate about and attend both a local and statewide graduation.

Both programs are run by the Family Resource Center, begin in January, and are open to parents, grandparents, guardians or anyone else who lives or works in West Hartford and cares about kids. They will be offered free of charge and childcare will be provided.

To learn more about the info. session or the programs, contact Deborah Zipkin, Director of the Family Resource Center, at 860-929-5575.
