The West Hartford Republican Town Committee met March 16, 2020 (virtually) to elect a new slate of officers for the 2020-2022 term. The town committee will be led by:

  • Mark Merritt – Chairman
  • Shawn Daly – Vice-Chairman
  • Kaye Straw – Secretary
  • Ari Shell – Treasurer

The committee would like to recognize the leadership of Dennis Swanton for his years of leadership.

“Dennis has been and will continue to be a fierce advocate for fiscal responsibility and Republican principles,” said Town Councilor Chris Williams, as Swanton will continue to be an active member of the committee.

The new leadership will continue to advocate for fiscal responsibility with addition to sustainability and growth for all areas of the town.  Along with these core pillars, the committee will focus on safety, security and leading a collaborative approach towards a dynamic education platform.

“I commend Dennis for all the valuable work he has done during his tenure. I am excited about our new leadership team headed by Mark Merritt.  His experience both politically and professionally will serve our town and Town Committee well,” said Minority Leader Lee Gold.

The West Hartford Republican Town Committee is focused on fiscal discipline and accountability, lessening the tax burden for all. Visit www.whgop.org to learn more about our core pillars, elected officials and to get involved.
