Daniel Geary of Conard High School, and Joshua Orsey of Hall High School in West Hartford, CT, have earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest advancement award, the Eagle Scout Award.

Daniel and Joshua were recognized at the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony on June 2, 2024, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Hartford. The ceremony included the Scouts, family, friends, the American Legion’s Pat Harrell, and state Rep. Kate Farrer.

The newly appointed Eagle Scouts also received proclamations from Congressman John Larson, U.S. Representative for Connecticut’s 1st Congressional District, and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and U.S. Sen. Christopher Murphy.

According to the Boy Scout of America CT Yankee Council, Daniel and Joshua, members of Troop 163, are among approximately 5% of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank. To earn the rank of Eagle, each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church, or synagogue-related service project.

Joshua restored the southmost path at Spicebush Swamp Park in West Hartford, CT.  The project consisted of clearing brush and debris from an existing path and building and installing elevated walkways.
