With a Senior Night victory on Thursday, Oct. 19 over East Catholic, the Hall girls volleyball team has won four of their last five games to qualify for the CIAC playoffs for a third year in a row under coach Elena Pevar.
The Titans beat Plainville (3 sets to 1), Rocky Hill (3-1), Avon (3-2), and East Catholic (3-1) with the only loss during this two week stretch being to a very strong Glastonbury squad (3-0). The offensive production has come from senior middle hitters Anna Siciliano and Sydney Todd as well as the play of seniors Alexa Faga at right side and Cassidy Greene at outside hitter.
The tandem of juniors Nory McDonald and Piper Garner-McKinnon at the outside hitter spot has provided depth to the front line attack and bodes well for next year for the Titans. Eliza Bean, a junior, has anchored the back row as libero and the table setter has been junior Margaret Kinney who leads the team in assists.
Senior Alyssa Ferreira made key contributions to the Hall defense in the hard-fought win over East Catholic.
The Hall netters will face crosstown rival Conard on Monday at 6 p.m. in the friendly confines of Robinson Gymnasium and then will finish the regular season on Wednesday traveling to Newington.
Hall looks forward to once again competing in the Class LL playoffs where they are currently ranked 18th out of 38 teams in that division with a record of 8 wins and 9 losses.
