The Mandell JCC, Voices of Hope, and The Hero Center invite the community to the annual Yom HaShoah Commemoration on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Beth El Temple in West Hartford.
Yom HaShoah, Remembrance Day for the Holocaust, is an occasion to honor the lives and heroism of the six million Jews who died and those who survived.
Before the service, there will be a reading of the names of family members from our community who perished in the Holocaust, as well as survivors from the local community who have passed away, from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
The Yom HaShoah Commemoration service will then begin at 7 p.m. with the memorial candle precession. It will also include A Conversation Between Generations, with local survivor Ruth Weiner and her family, moderated by Elizabeth Rose.
Email Barbara Sack at [email protected] or call 860-231-6316 to sign up for the procession or to submit names of family members to be included in the reading of the names. The Yom Hashoah Commemoration committee is co-chaired by Jeff Israel and Sharone Kornman.
In addition, the Community-Wide Reading of the Names will be held at the Mandell JCC on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
We invite you to join us in person for this community commemoration to pay tribute to the victims and honor our survivors.
For more information, please contact Barbara Sack at [email protected] or 860-231-6316.
