West Hartford’s American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 has announced its 2017 School Award recipients.

American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 has awarded its 2017 School Awards. The award is presented in “Recognition of the possession of those high qualities of Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship and Service which are necessary to the preservation and protection of the fundamental institutions of our government and the advancement of society.”
The American Legion School Awards for 2017 were presented to the following students:

The American Legion was founded in 1919 on the Four Pillars of a strong national security, veterans affairs, Americanism, and youth programs. With a current membership of over 2 million wartime veterans, Legionnaires work for the betterment of their communities through more than 14,000 posts across the nation.
