Award-Winning Author Shulem Deen Will Speak at JCC in West Hartford

Award-winning author Shulem Deen will speak on his critically-acclaimed Memoir, ‘All Who Go Do Not Return,’ as part of the Mandell JCC’s Jewish Book Festival in West Hartford.

The Mandell JCC Jewish Book Festival will bring Shulem Deen, award-winning author, to speak about his moving memoir, All Who Go Do Not Return, on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford, CT 06117.

All Who Go Do Not Return is Shulem Deen’s revealing account of growing up Hasidic, and his harrowing struggles with his loss of faith, family and community. The New Yorker calls it: “The most lyrical [and] also the most searchingly spiritual of the ‘ex-frum’ memoirs.”

Shulem Deen is an award-winning author and is currently a columnist for The Forward, and in 2015 was listed in the Forward 50, an annual list of American Jews with outsized roles on political and social issues. His articles have also appeared in The New RepublicSalonTablet Magazine, and elsewhereHe serves as a board member at Footsteps, a New York City-based organization that offers assistance and support to those who have left the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
