The Conard boys hockey team learned Monday that it had earned a spot in the Courant’s top 10 teams, and continued the team’s winning streak by cruising to a 6-0 win over the Hall/Southington Co-op at home at Veteran’s Memorial Rink.
Conard is the only Division II team to earn a statewide ranking, and it’s the teams first time in the top 10 in six years. Following Monday’s win, Conard’s record is now 12-4.
“I thought we played a solid second and third period after a slow start in the first period,” Conard coach Greg Raymer said.
Senior Mark Ehnot had 2 goals and 1 assist. Junior Jordon Fongamie had 1 goal and 1 assist, and sophomore Zach Polo and junior Grayson Lacroix each had 1 goal and 2 assists. Not sure what got Hall goalie and players all fired up thinking fustration on there side.
The Chieftains have four more regular season games left on the schedule, including two more in West Hartford. Conard meets Northwest Catholic on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. and has a rematch with Hall/Southington on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. Both games are at Veteran’s.
