Conard Swimming and Diving Remains Undefeated

West Hartford’s Conard High School girls swimming and diving team is 4-0 after defeating Berlin at an away meet on Oct. 3.

Conard girls swimming and diving improved to 4-0 on the season, and 1-0 in the CCC West on Tuesday afternoon after defeating Berlin High School. The Red Wolves won every event and swept four of the twelve events despite several challenges from Berlin’s team.
The meet started with Gracie Lowney, Rosie Alonzo, Rachel Mathews, and Lucy Pincince winning the 200 Medley relay. Conard then went on to sweep the next two individual events behind Meghan Jo, Lyla Harhay, and Kayla Lowney in the 200 Freestyle, and Jane Harhay, Mathews, and Ella Hall in the 200 Individual Medley. G. Lowney secured the top spot in the 50 Freestyle, while Pincince and Claire Haverly wrapped up third and fourth places respectively.
On the board, Mia Rosario soared to a new personal best score of 210.80 on her way to first, while teammate Gabby Alekshun took second.
The Red Wolves went on to sweep the next two events with the combined efforts of Mathews, Alonzo, and Haverly in the 100 Butterfly, and J. Harhay, L. Harhay, and CeCe Peck in the 100 Freestyle. Jo posted a season best 500 Freestyle and won the event, while G. Lowney and Hall won the 100 Backstroke and 100 Breaststroke respectively.
Conard’s 200 Freestyle Relay (Haverly, L. Harhay, Jo, J. Harhay)) took the top spot, and the 400 Freestyle relay (L. Harhay, Jo, J. Harhay, G. Lowney) closed out the meet with a final first place finish.
Conard will face their two most challenging opponents next week when they take on Farmington on Oct. 10 and Southington on Oct. 13, both at Cornerstone Aquatics Center.
