Lamont Defends Guardrails; Calls Spending Cap ‘Sacrosanct’

The governor said that the fiscal constraints had been a boon for the state’s economy.

Gov. Ned Lamont defended the state’s fiscal guardrails before a crowd of hundreds at the Economic Outlook Summit, hosted by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) Wednesday morning, calling the spending cap “sacrosanct” and saying that the guardrails are key to the state’s financial success.

The sold-out event began with opening remarks by Chris DiPentima, president and CEO of the CBIA. He asked that lawmakers focus on making the state more attractive to current residents so that they stay, and attract workers from Connecticut’s neighbors.
