The heart and soul of a faithful school community was realized Saturday on blessed grounds off of Wampanoag Road.
Families, students, alumni, faculty, teachers, and generous benefactors of Northwest Catholic High School gathered in the Breen Athletic Complex to commemorate its dedication, during the 2023 Homecoming Game.
School officials demonstrated their gratitude to the complex’s benefactors, several alumni families whose generosity brought this project to fruition.
“We couldn’t ask for a better day to have our new Archbishop and valued donors who made this possible for our community,” Director of Athletics Ashley Mara said.
NWC President Fr. Michael Dolan proudly introduced the newly-appointed Archbishop Adjutor Christopher J. Coyne, who graciously joined the school community for this momentous event.
Archbishop Coyne led those gathered in prayer.
“May you bless these facilities, which will contribute to physical activities and pleasure that renew the spirit and strengthen the mind and body,” he said, asking the Lord to grant all those who use the grounds healthy sportsmanship and good companionship in the pursuit of their activities.
NWC athletes celebrated this occasion in school colors, recognizing the legacy to be left for generations to come.
“The transformation of these athletic fields honors the passion, sportsmanship and camaraderie Northwest Catholic athletes have played with since 1961,” said Patrick Williamson, director of advancement. “This complex provides an arena for our students to thrive in the long tradition of excellence at Northwest Catholic High School. Our faithful alumni and benefactors have aligned to modernize the campus and provide a facility within which Northwest Catholic students will realize their full potential for generations to come.”
