The Park Road Association has announced the launch of the third seminar in its 2018 Small Business Owner Workshop Series, an initiative to assist local Park Road and West Hartford business owners and entrepreneurs in building better enterprises by connecting them with resources and experts from the local area.
The June 5 workshop, “Retirement Planning for Small Business Owners,” will welcome Jay Gershman from West Hartford-based life planning firm Retirement Visions to talk about strategies that will help business owners get on the road to the retirement of their dreams. Discussion points will include the pros and cons of putting away more for retirement versus investing back in the business, secrets to growing the top and bottom line to retire sooner, and succession planning strategies.
“Most small business owners can’t imagine retiring and many don’t have a sufficient 401K or pension plan to hang up the towel,” said John Paindiris, co-president of the Park Road Association and owner of Effie’s Place Restaurant in West Hartford. “Bringing in a financial planning professional gives our community access to an expert that can answer their questions and help them make better decisions for their future. It’s a topic that I know most West Hartford business owners have on their minds so I am excited that we are able to give our local community access to someone who can offer them guidance and support.”
The Park Road Association is thrilled to welcome Jay Gershman to present to the group. As an independent life and financial planner here in West Hartford, Gershman specializes in advice and implementation of retirement and profit sharing plans for business owners. From buying and selling a home to developing a strategy for paying college tuition, Gershman incorporates real life into his client’s long-term financial goals and helps to take the worry out of their futures.
“Financial topics are very hard for small business owners to tackle, especially when it’s about planning for the future,” said Tracy Flater, co-president of the Park Road Association and founder/executive director of Playhouse on Park in West Hartford. “Our goal with this workshop is to let the local business community know that they aren’t alone and with the right planning, they can retire and enjoy years of traveling, pursuing hobbies, and spending quality time with family and friends. While it can feel like a huge leap, getting started is the first step towards success and we’re excited to help our small business owners on Park Road take the plunge.”
Retirement Planning for Small Business Owners will take place on Tuesday, June 5, at 3:30 p.m. at Zest 280 on 280 Park Rd. in West Hartford. Tickets are only $10 for Park Road neighborhood businesses and residents and $20 for all other businesses and residents. Spaces are very limited and tickets can be purchased on the Park Road Association website at http://www.parkroadct.com/upco
