Speed dating for the world’s fasting-growing (60+) generation arrives next month in the greater Hartford area, as the Elmwood Senior Center hosts a premiere screening and filmmaker Q&A on Sept. 25, 2015, from 1-3 p.m.

It’s all part of the nationwide rollout of The Age of Love, an eye-opening documentary that offers a “touching and funny look into the lives of seniors who just want to find love.” (Huffington Post).

Telling the story of a first-of-its-kind speed dating event for 60- to 90-year-olds, Steven Loring’s feature follows the comic and poignant adventures of 30 seniors from Rochester, NY, suddenly forced to take stock of life-worn bodies and still-hopeful hearts. Fearlessly candid about themselves and what they’re seeking, these WWII babies soon discover how the search for love changes—or doesn’t change—from first love to the far reaches of life.

“It’s not intended as simply an inspiring film for seniors,” says Loring, who will be on hand to lead a post-screening discussion with the audience. “It’s really about the feelings that tie us all together, how the need to be seen and understood by another person isn’t just for the young, but is universal and continues to drive and empower us over a lifetime.”

The film has won many awards and is screening in over a dozen countries in 2015. It was the winner of a prestigious Fledgling Fund grant for its “potential to change hearts and minds in American culture. “

This free event, sponsored by Lichtenstein Financial, LLC, takes place at the Ernest O. St. Jacques Auditorium of the Elmwood Senior Center at 1106 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, CT. Refreshments will be served.

The event is free, but registration is required by calling ESC (860) 561-8180. All ages are welcome to attend the screening and engage in dialogue.

A subsequent speed dating event will take place approximately one month later on Oct. 26, from 1-3 p.m. at the same location.
