Fundraising continues for the construction of Jonathan’s Dream Reimagined, an up-to-date version of the accessible “boundless playground” on the grounds of the Mandell JCC in West Hartford.
Youth in the community, many of whom grew up enjoying the original playground, have been working to raise money for the rebuilding effort. In August, the organization received a $500,000 grant from the state for the project. However, more funding is still needed and local businesses are also contributing.
On Sunday, Sep. 27, from 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m., a fundraiser will take place at Harry’s Bishops Corner, 732 N. Main St., West Hartford. A percentage of the day’s total sales, from lunch, dinner, or take-out, will be donated to help rebuild Jonathan’s Dream. Carrie Johnson will perform songs for children and families between 1 – 2 p.m.
On Sunday, Oct. 4, from noon until 4 p.m., a fundraiser will be held at Ten Thousand Villages in West Hartford Center. Get a jump on your holiday shopping. A percentage of the day’s total sales will be donated to help rebuild Jonathan’s Dream.
