We-Ha.com was honored to have not one but two vaccine experts appear during Wednesday night’s forum, hosted by John Lyons and Ronni Newton, which was broadcast on Facebook Live as well as West Hartford Community Interactive and YouTube.
Both spoke about the value of the vaccine as a way to finally take control of the spread of COVID-19, and the importance of getting both doses.
Keith Grant, APRN, senior system director of infection prevention at Hartford HealthCare and a member of the governor’s COVID-19 task force explained how the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were developed so quickly (the mRNA technology is not brand new), how the vaccine works, and plans for distribution likely beginning in just a matter of days.
Dr. Nick Bennett, a pediatric infectious disease doctor with a Ph.D in virology has helped run several clinical trials for vaccines, and is currently a study participant in the Pfizer COVID vaccine study.
He will provided information about what goes into the vaccines and how they differ from the flu vaccine, safety measures are taken in approving them, and how much more effective it will be if as many people as possible are vaccinated.
Both experts answered questions from viewers.
