First grade students at Renbrook School in West Hartford decided their Thanksgiving project this year would be the creation of fleece blankets of varying patterns to give to children who may be staying at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center throughout the holidays.
Some of the students described why they were making the blankets:
“Because the kids in the hospitals need blankets.”
“It’s a holiday where you help people, so we are making the blankets for the children in the hospitals.”
“So we can help people who may not be able to go home for Thanksgiving.”
“People are sick the hospital and they need to get some love.”
Students then created handmade cards to attach to the blankets while the parent volunteers set up the packages to be delivered to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
