A burglary occurred at Nothing Bundt Cakes in Corbin’s Corner over the weekend.

Nothing Bundt Cakes, a bakery located at 1481 New Britain Avenue in the Corbin’s Corner Shopping Center, was closed Sunday and Monday while staff cleaned up and assessed the damage following a burglary.

Franchise owner Traci Halky said in a Facebook post that pre-orders for Father’s Day were still being filled, with staff contacting customers to arrange pick-up. Halky said is appears that the burglars gained access to the bakery by cutting through the drywall of an adjacent space.

West Hartford Police Sgt. Amanda Martin said an employee discovered that the burglary had occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, and police believe it occurred during the overnight hours. Employees were in the store until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

According to Martin, the investigation “is still active as our detectives were called to the scene for processing and are still following up on evidence.”

Martin said an unknown amount of money was stolen from the business, and in addition there was damage to the property.

The shop was back open Tuesday and has a full assortment of their signature bundt cakes in various sizes available for purchase and customization.

“It’s devastating, but at the same time I feel quite blessed and fortunate,” Halky told We-Ha.com in a text message.

“The most important thing is that no one was injured. Money is replaceable. People aren’t. And my team is the most important thing to me in the bakery. We’ve created such an amazing family there and I’m so very glad that we can continue on as we have for the last year,” she said.

“I am also enormously appreciative of the support we’ve received from the community. We’ve established so many genuine connections within the community over the last year and that’s really what keeps us smiling each and every day, in spite of the bumps in the road. So, we look forward to seeing everyone again – we definitely have cake and frosting and are ready to bring more joy to the community.

  • WE HA.com is getting like the Board of Education in West Hartford cutting off comments for certain subjects to stay in the Town Council Majorities pocket!!

    • Hi Linda,
We have not cut off any comments on articles – although we do require commenters on the site to use their full names unless they were approved prior to our establishing that policy more than two years ago. And we do not cut off comments on our Facebook page. Sometimes the administrators of Facebook groups cut off comments on stories I have posted, but that is coming from them, not from us. Please let me know specifically what you are referring to so I can look into it. ~Ronni Newton
