West Hartford Police are currently investigating a burglary that occurred overnight at Goldberg’s Bagels, located at 1131 New Britain Ave. in Elmwood.

Capt. Michael Perruccio said that the investigation is active, and that the only information he could provide at this time was to “confirm we are investigating a burglary at this business.”

NBC Connecticut reported earlier that the owner of Goldberg’s was notified about the break-in by a baker who showed up for work at approximately 2 a.m. Their report said that it appeared “the suspect came in through the back door and went straight for the safe and cash register. The suspect took money and left.”

Renovations to Goldberg’s Bagels are currently in progress.
