West Hartford Superintendent of Schools Paul Vicinus made it official on Wednesday, removing the “interim” tag and naming Sarah Isaacs as the permanent principal of Hall High School.
Isaacs, who was previously an assistant principal, has been interim principal at Hall since the summer of 2024 when Dan Zittoun departed the district for a central office role in Farmington.
Vicinus share the news with the Hall community and Board of Education, stating that the announcement was being made with “great excitement, confidence, and enthusiasm.”
In his letter, Vicinus said, “While Sarah was the clear choice for the interim position, we felt it was essential to conduct a thorough and inclusive search process – one that prioritized a deep commitment to students and families, high expectations for all learners, and visionary instructional leadership. Through this process, Sarah emerged as the top candidate from a highly competitive pool of educational leaders drawn to WHPS as a district of choice.”
Isaacs has lived in West Hartford since 2007, and has been with the district for more than 15 years – which is the majority of her career in education, beginning as a middle school language arts teacher at King Philip. She was assistant principal at Hall for the six years before taking on the interim principal role, has led the Culturally Responsive Instructional Team, has been the liaison to Hall’s PTO, and has also led the Teacher Induction Program for the district and presented at national conferences. In addition, outside of the classroom she has also been an athletic coach, TEAM mentor, and curriculum writer.
“Most recently, she successfully led Hall through its decennial NEAS&C accreditation visit, during which the school received significant praise and recognition as an exceptional learning institution,” Vicinus said Wednesday.
Isaacs has a bachelor’s degree in English, master’s in curriculum and instruction, and sixth year certificate in educational leadership – all from the University of Connecticut. She and her husband, Aaron, live in the Hall district and have three children who will be future Titans.
“Sarah continues to stand out among her peers for her deep knowledge, unwavering dedication, and authentic commitment to students and families. Her leadership reflects the very best of what we value in West Hartford,” he added, noting that he is confident “in her ability to continue leading with purpose and positively shaping the culture and learning experience for the Hall community.”
Isaacs has worked closely with her crosstown counterpart, Conard Principal Jocelyn Tamborello-Noble, who also previously served in an interim role before being named to the permanent position in June 2024.
