West Hartford’s Elizabeth “Bepsie” Perry was presented with this year’s Jewell Ryan-White Award at the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) National Conference in Boston on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 for her use of community media to build cultural awareness.

Perry collaborated with West Hartford Community Television on numerous occasions to present several multicultural events, including language of the month videos with WHC-TV’s Be The Media teams, and an annual cultural year in review celebration which highlights the many diverse cultures and languages in the community.

In 2010, Perry helped launch the Hello! West Hartford movement out of a desire to build connections between community members through language, community media and special events. She further shares her passion for cultural awareness as the Senior Music and Talent Coordinator for International Hartford’s One World Market.

Perry has over 25 years of teaching experience, and is currently a special educator locally at the Intensive Education Academy, West Hartford. She has her Master’s in Education from St. Joseph University. Perry and her husband Shannon have three children, Naomi (18), Eli (17), and Isaiah (15).
