Have you been longing to get out of the house and go dancing on a Friday night? Here’s your opportunity (even if you can’t dance)!
Simply Swing features six swinging horns, a dynamic rhythm section, and talented Big Band vocalist Vivian LaRosa. Dancers of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend for a brief swing dance tutorial with a professional dance instructor, and then enjoy an evening of dancing and desserts!
You may recognize the Simply Swing band from other events held in town and across Connecticut. Their repertoire includes music of Big Band Legends Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, and Benny Goodman to vocalists including Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Nat and Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, and Diana Krall. With a taste of nostalgia, this event will get your feet tapping and more, on a Friday night.
Rumor has it that the instructors from the Bloomfield Arthur Murray Dance Center are “fighting” over who will get to come and teach this group at First Church. The “dance instruction” portion of the event is very brief and there is no prior experience required.
A $20 donation per person for the event can be prepaid online, or at the door. Advance ticket sales have closed, but tickets will be available at the door. Follow other event details on the Facebook event page here.
