Joe Cornfield’s Wallpaper & Window Treatments (open Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.), a member collection site for Pets of the Homeless, is asking the community to bring donations of pet food and supplies to 485 New Park Avenue, West Hartford. Donations will be delivered to AID-a-Pet.

Homelessness is still an issue even as the economy brightens. Those left in the shadows and on the streets with pets are in need of pet food. AID-a-Pet also assists veterans and the elderly, who would sooner forsake their own food and/or medications in favor of feeding their beloved pets.

Genevieve Frederick, Founder of Pets of the Homeless said, “Since 2008, collection site members have taken over 366 tons of pet food and supplies to homeless shelters, food banks and soup kitchens across the country. It is a combined effort to continue year-round collections of pet food. We applaud the caring, member sites who have reported their contributions. The need is great for communities to continue to donate to this on-going effort.”
