Northwest Catholic Girls Will Play for Class M Championship

West Hartford’s Northwest Catholic High School girls soccer team will face Lewis Mills High School on Saturday in the CIAC Class M tournament.

The Class M CIAC girls’ soccer final is set after Northwest Catholic defeated Nonnewaug 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Maeve Staunton played a key role in the victory, scoring a goal and providing an assist. Elise Nicholas also scored in the first half, assisted by Allie Loveless, while Hope Meaney added a goal in the second half, assisted by Mya Montoney. Staunton later set up Loveless for another goal in the second half.

Northwest Catholic controlled possession throughout the match, outshooting Nonnewaug 19-3.

The Lions, which entered the tournament as a No. 19 seed after playing a schedule loaded with Class L and Class LL teams during the regular season, will face No. 4 seed Lewis Mills High School (Burlington) on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m., at Trinity Health Stadium in Hartford.
