by Joy Taylor
It’s time for some funny faces and laughs. Break out the masks, hats, or costumes (optional), for the Tuesday, Oct. 23, WeHaHA! Comedy Night at World of Beer.
“This month we welcome Doug Key, Dr. Jay Sutay, and Josh Levinson, plus a special appearance by Dr. Donny Annicelle,” noted comedian and host of WeHaHA! Comedy Nights Paul Gregory. “This series of comedy nights are made possible in part by Dr. Steven A. Fischman Orthodontics, who has also taken the stage on occasion to show his comedic chops! I’m not sure what the connection is between doctors, dentists and comedy, but I guess it shows we all need humor in our lives!”
Guests will get their money’s worth because in addition to the featured comedians, you’ll hear new jokes from Dr. Fischman and Paul Gregory!
Tickets are available on Eventbrite or via the Facebook event page for a suggested donation of just $20 ($22.85 with Eventbrite fees). Tickets are usually available at the door, but seating is limited, so advance registration is encouraged.
Meet acts for the Oct. 23 show:
This month’s headliner, Doug Key, is a New York City based comedian and performs at comedy clubs and popular bar shows all over the country. He’s been seen on Mark Normand’s Comedy Central digital series “What They Really Mean.” Doug was featured in the 2013 Boston Comedy Festival, 2014 and 2017 New York Comedy Festival, and the 2017 Cape Fear Comedy Festival. He’s had the privilege to open for some big names including Dave Attell, Nick Dipaolo, Dom Irrera, Kyle Kinane, T.J. Miller, Michael Che, and many others. Doug has made TV appearances on MTV’s Broke A$$ Game Show, and ABC’s The Chew. He is the founder of Rhode Island’s first and only comedy festival, The Rogue Island Comedy Festival which took place in Newport, RI, from Oct 4-8.
In keeping with the “doctor” theme, the featured act Jay Sutay is dubbed “The Hardest Working Pediatrician in Comedy.” Dr. Jay Sutay is a frustrated pediatrician from South Windsor, CT, who brings his tales from the exam rooms, his experience working with kids and their parents, as well as his own tribulations as the father of two daughters to his stand up comedy. His cutting and sometimes incisive commentary about society, parenting, and raising kids, has left audiences laughing.
Dr. Jay Sutay began doing stand up comedy in 1983 while attending Fairfield University.
Also featured is Josh Levinson, an up-and-coming stand up comic who has performed in clubs and bars all over New England. Software engineer by day and and comedian by night, audiences enjoy Josh’s unassuming demeanor as he turns his insecurities into punchlines. Whether he’s lending his sense of humor to the popular blog Between Two Rocks or performing on stage, he gives you more than the typical IT guy next door. Josh is able to laugh at himself in a way that is infectious and gets you to laugh along with him.
